President Ronald Wilson Reagan died June 5, 2004. Like my favorite pistol, he was born in 1911. He passed away at the age of 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He will be remembered as “The Great Communicator," the guy who won the Cold War, and as a person who almost single handedly changed the chemistry of the American body politic. I loved it when he reconditioned the Iowa class battleships, even though they proved to be too expensive to operate in relation to their military effectiveness. I didn’t always agree with his vision of America, but at least he had one and could articulate it. It was hard not to like him, regardless of your politics.

He pleaded guilty Friday to violating a city ordinance, court records show. Due to corroborating witness statements that French was acting in self-defense, the charges were reduced to discharging a firearm in the city limits, a non-criminal act that is a violation of city ordinance.
