"Suarez is lesser known to some, but is "high
speed" Gabe Suarez is an excellent writer, his style is entertaining while drilling the basics home (we were taught all this is the academy), but MASTERY of the BASICS, leads to excellence. Suarez writes from first hand experience, surviving several shootings. I have his other books, and they too are excellent! very good." |

Book
Description In a highly publicized February 1997 shootout, two rifle-wielding thugs managed to outgun LAPD officers armed only with handguns after a botched North Hollywood bank robbery. It was not until responding SWAT officers armed with rifles arrived on the scene that the suspects were finally neutralized, but not without police casualties. Though not the first incidence of police officers being outmatched by criminals' superior firepower, this one was pivotal in bringing about a serious re-examination of the use of the rifle for urban law enforcement. In this book, Gabriel Suarez, founder and senior tactical instructor of his department's Tactical Rifle Team, exposes the myths that have long kept the rifle from being considered for use in urban policing. In addition, he details the many advantages the rifle affords the inner city police officer or SWAT operator in a wide range of deployment situations and presents innovative techniques that are replacing the "traditional" ones among agencies that have adopted the rifle. As we progress into the 21st century, the rifle is likely to become an increasingly integral part of the police officer's tool bag. This book will serve as a valuable guide to police tactical riflemen, making their jobs easier and safer as they make the criminal's job more difficult and hazardous. |

"A excellent source of information for the handgun
owner. A complete and exhaustive look at today's fighting handguns, the popular cartridges, and all the tactics and techniques one can use for defensive shooting. Includes the results of several endurance tests performed on some popular handguns such as the Browning, Beretta, Colt, SIG, and S&W. Also looks at the performance of cartridges themselves from 9mm up to .45 ACP. Various chapters also address bullet expansion, cover and concealment, stances, reloading your weapon, and carrying a handgun and spare ammo. Includes a glossary of terms and a manufacturer's directory. An essential resource for novice shooters, and quite informative for experts, too. Authored by Chuck Taylor, an Army Ranger commander during Vietnam and vastly qualified through various institutions here in the U.S. If you appreciate an in-depth and well-rounded resource by a certifiable master of his field, I highly recommend Combat Handgunnery." |

Book Description Louis Awerbuck is one of America's premier firearms trainers and instructors. He firmly believes that training and tactics are the most crucial elements in determining how people respond in a real fight. This book brings together a decade of articles by Awerbuck in S.W.A.T. and Soldier of Fortune magazines on subjects ranging from creative target systems and firearms marksmanship under stress to defensive survival of a deadly-force encounter. But above all the book is intended to promote thought on surviving a fight in an increasingly deteriorating society. Tactical Reality is not for the person who looks for trouble where he could have avoided it. It is not for the man who shuns cover and takes an unnecessary bullet. It is not for the squeamish or anyone who isn't prepared to fight to defend himself or his family. It is for everyone interested in finding out how to take a realistic approach to training so that, if need be, he can turn the tactical odds in a gunfight in his favor. This book proves that you are what you practice. |

A reader from Okinawa, Japan , August 2,
1999 Another good read without the proverbial BULL Gives very good insight into the overall tactics, training, and logistics within the world of CQB. Being on a Special Reaction Team for a year I found this book helpful in improving the training and tactics of our team. I also found it helped with my own individual base tactics. Tended to be somewhat dry, but the knowledge is worth it. A
